Before an important performance or rehearsal, and between basic maintenance, the instrument should be adjusted. Adjusting the pads and mechanism will make the instrument more stable, the instrument will resonate effortlessly, the playing feel will remain optimal, and the pads will last longer. During the adjustment, the instrument will be inspected and parts will be replaced if necessary. It is recommended to adjust 1–3 times a year, depending on the amount of playing and the instrument.
The price of checking and adjusting a handmade flute starts at €98 + supplies. The price is determined based on the time and supplies used for the maintenance and is affected by the quality, age, and previous maintenance history of the flute. The typical cost of checking and adjusting is €90–250. Upon request, we will provide a more accurate cost estimate for the maintenance once we have seen the flute. If the flute needs more extensive maintenance than checking and adjusting, we will inform you of this before starting the work.
