REPAIRS
Uncompromising quality combined with a passion for flutes and crafts defines our way of working. We always strive for the best possible outcome in maintenance and repairs, taking into account the special characteristics and needs of both the customer and the flute. Each flute is as valuable to us as it is to its owner. We will also tell you honestly if in any case it makes more sense to let the instrument go to its well-deserved retirement instead of repairing it. Salli and Johannes have both graduated from professional flute studies, so we speak the same language with players. Flute repair training has been sought from leading flute manufacturers, including Japan and the United States. Our repair shop is certified by Muramatsu, Brannen and Straubinger. We always use the highest quality spare parts, materials and tools.

MAINTENANCE OF STUDENT FLUTES
A regular and well-maintained instrument is a basic requirement for developing playing skills. When practicing with a leaky or poorly tuned flute, the meaning of the hobby suffers. A well-maintained flute also retains its value better. If the flute is damaged for some reason, even major damage can be repaired, and home insurance usually covers the repair costs.
Annual maintenance, inspection and adjustment are relevant when the flute is about a year old or has undergone basic maintenance at Huilupiste within about two years. Annual maintenance is an hourly-charged maintenance and the price starts at €98 + supplies.
The maintenance interval for basic maintenance depends a lot on the amount of playing and the player, but we typically recommend basic maintenance every 1-5 years. In connection with the first basic maintenance, we can recommend a maintenance interval that is right for you. The price of basic maintenance for a student flute starts at €199 + supplies and additional work.
Padding, or rather a full maintenance of a student flute, is relevant if the pads of the student flute are at the end of their useful life (depending on the number of plays and the pads, usually 4–10 years). The price of padding starts at €499 + accessories.
MAINTENANCE OF HANDMADE FLUTES
Handmade flutes from piccolos to bass flutes require maintenance to be of high value. The full potential of the instrument can only be utilized by having the flute serviced by a professional who knows how to repair and adjust the instrument according to the requirements of professional flutists. A regularly and well-maintained handmade flute retains its value excellently. When buying a used handmade flute, it is a good idea to have the instrument checked by a flute repairer. In cases of damage, a professional can provide an estimate to your insurance company and repair the damage.
Trimming, or inspection and adjustment, is necessary before an important performance or audition and between basic maintenance. Adjustment is recommended 1–3 times a year, depending on the number of plays and the instrument. One working day is reserved for the adjustment.
In basic maintenance (so-called C.O.A. or clean, oil and adjust), the instrument is disassembled, in traditional mechanisms the locking pins are also opened. 2–3 working days are reserved for basic maintenance and it should be done at least every other year.
A full maintenance must be performed if the pads are at the end of their service life (4–10 years depending on the pads and the number of plays). A full maintenance also includes a follow-up inspection and adjustment within 6 months of the completion of the full maintenance. For a full maintenance, the instrument must be in the workshop for approximately 7 working days.
